AMCA sent a submission to the

Legislative Council of Western Australia Select Committee into Cannabis and Hemp.

The role of the Select Committee is to inquire into and report on the potential to amend the current legislation and regulations which apply to cannabis and hemp in Western Australia, with particular reference to —
(a) the current barriers to pharmaceutical and nutraceutical use of cannabinoid products;
(b) medicinal cannabis, its prescription, availability and affordability; and
(c) the potential benefits and risks of permitting industrial hemp for human consumption.

Teresa Nicoletti ensured that the AMCA submission was comprehensive and reflective of the continuing needs of patients. Teresa and Lucy Haslam were also both interviewed by the WA Select Committee.

Submissions will be confidential until such time as the Select Committee publishes them on its website.

We shall keep you fully informed of progress.
